Developing film helps me connect and involves me in the process of creating an image. That, and it keeps down the cost of using film and that allows me to continue using the vintage/old school cameras that I prefer using.

Similarly, I enjoy wrenching on, and riding vintage/old school motorcycles. This is much more satisfying for me than riding a modern bike that needs to be taken to the dealer for maintenance and repair. I enjoy getting my hands dirty.

I ride a motorcycle, not simply to get from point A to point B. I ride because I enjoy the journey aspect, the manner of getting there on a motorcycle. Similarly, I enjoy the film based process of photography. It's not just all about the final image/destination. It is also about the manner/process of achieving that image.
